Tsukiji market is a public wholesale market in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Scale of the market is said to be the world’s largest, handling the amount of seafood per day up to a whopping average of 2,000 tons.

In addition to seafood, meat, fruit, vegetables, a variety of fresh food are also beukng trade.

It also has a face as a major tourist spot in Tokyo, and the sight of lined up people for fresh fish and seafood, many tourists every day seeking the atmosphere of the coming and going of people and vehicles rapidly in the market.

1. Number of Visitors
Up to 120 visitors per day (On a first-come, first-served basis. No reservation in advance.)
2. Visitors Registration
(1) Registration Place: 1st Floor of “The Fish Information Center” (By the Kachidoki Bridge entrance).
(2) Registration Time: From 5:00AM.
3. Tour Times
Visitors are divided up into two groups of 60 according to their order of arrival.
(1) First group visits the tuna auction area from 5:25AM to 5:50AM.
(2) Second group visits the area from 5:50AM to 6:15AM.

“Wholesale market” is the area where wholesale shop dealing with marine products and fruit and vegetables alongside.

Hours curb market: 5:00 to 14:00 (depending on the store)
Wholesale market: visitors on tour Allowed from 9:00
■ Holiday Sundays and public holidays, it may also be closed on Wednesday.

Access to the Tsukiji Fish Market

Nearest station of the Tsukiji market is a “Tsukiji Market Station” of the Toei Oedo Line. Others, Hibiya Line “Tsukiji Station”, and is accessible on foot from the JR “Shinbashi Station”.

From Tokyo Station: Marunouchi Line in going to the “Ginza Station” (about 3 minutes), get off at “Tsukiji Station” is change to the Hibiya Line (about 3 minutes), 170 yen.

From Shinjuku Station: direct to the “Tsukiji Market Station” in the Toei Oedo Line. About 20 minutes travel time, 260 yen.
